I'm sorry I didn't post anything yesterday. I was busy having dinner with a friend who is leaving the country to study in England. Anyhow, here I am again!
I hope you tried your very best with the quiz. I know it was hard, and long, and ahhhhhhhhh! Some of you did really well on the test (or what I have marked so far) and others of you had a bit of difficulty. Yes, I understand that you can all do better, but I do want to make sure that those who would be more successful in the Applied stream can start there as soon as possible. Like I said in class, if your math skills are weaker than they need to be, you'll have a lot of trouble this year, and you'll only end up not liking math in the end.
I will try my best to have the quiz marked for you tomorrow. Yes the mark will count towards your report card. I am guessing we will have about 10 quizzes and about 6 tests this term. Those will make up the majority of the 70% of your final mark.
Tomorrow, we will be continuing Ratios and Percents. And if the quiz is marked, we will take it up too.

the test....i'm gonna say tht the last page, last question had me kinda baffled for a bit...and I didn't get to finiiish >< i think I got quite a few wrong...not cuz i'm dumb or anything *glares at anyone who tries to say i am* buuut...i didn't get time to double check...cuz i'm not a very FAST person...
ok i'm gonna speak on behalf of a few friends [[y'all know who u are :P]] what if you kinda blanked cuz it was the first quiz...and you know you can do better later....but you know you did bad of this one...would you still be put into the applied sect?
personally...altho i'm quite confident that i'm not gonna be applied...this DID freak me out...big time...hehe
In all honesty, the quiz was there to scare you. Everything on the quiz was the curriculum and covered in class (with the exception of the TIPS questions), so it wasn't impossible.
Now when I was talking about the applied stream, basically I'm trying to identify those who are having a lot of difficulty and those who are not. If the first page was difficult for you, we have to sit down and talk. If the last 2 pages were hard, you have to study a lot harder. There has been a lot of talk about "Do I really need to do the homework.. it's sooo easy." And the answer is YES, you need to do the homework, no matter how easy you THINK it is. Unless you practice and CHECK that your answer is correct, you can never be sure that what you are doing is right.
Hrm.. I don't know if I can finish marking your class. I'm still working on the other class.... and I need sleep now!!
